This guide assumes you are looking for the community-driven project to catalog music shared on /mu/ (the music board), not the ephemeral 4pass file hosting system. Contrary to popular belief, 4chan itself does not host music files. The 4chan Music Archive is a third-party, volunteer-run web crawler and database. Its purpose is to download, tag, and permanently store every music file (MP3, FLAC, OGG, M4A) posted to the /mu/ board.
