Abstract Active Directory (AD) remains the cornerstone of identity management in Microsoft-centric enterprise environments. While Windows Server traditionally hosts the primary AD management tools, Windows 10 professional workstations can effectively serve as management consoles for remote administration. This paper examines the deployment, functionality, and operational best practices of the Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) snap-in on Windows 10, addressing both the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) and modern Windows Admin Center alternatives. 1. Introduction In hybrid and on-premises networks, IT administrators frequently require the ability to manage user accounts, groups, organizational units (OUs), and computers without directly logging into a domain controller. Windows 10, when properly configured, provides a secure, efficient platform for these tasks. Understanding how to enable and use ADUC on Windows 10 is essential for reducing server load, enhancing security (by limiting interactive logins to DCs), and enabling remote work for helpdesk staff. 2. Enabling ADUC on Windows 10 2.1. RSAT for Windows 10 Microsoft provides Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) to allow Windows 10 to manage Windows Server roles. As of Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809), RSAT is installed as a set of Features on Demand rather than a separate downloadable package.
