Ah, the year 2000. The world was worried about the Y2K bug, computers were about to crash (they didn’t), and in India, Bollywood was doing what it does best: serving larger-than-life drama, iconic music, and a fresh crop of stars.

Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai released in January and broke every record. Overnight, every girl wanted a "Rohit," and every boy wanted to dance like Hrithik. The film had everything: a murder mystery, a look-alike twin twist, and a Greek god physique. The song "Ek Pal Ka Jeena" changed how Bollywood choreographed action and dance forever. Side note: Rakesh Roshan literally had to send a legal notice to a porn star who renamed herself "Hrithika Roshan" to cash in on the hype. That's how massive this stardom was. The music of 2000 was, in a word, legendary . Even if the films flopped, the cassettes (yes, cassettes) sold like hotcakes. Ah, the year 2000
