It gets the job done once you are already in a conversation , but it fails the most basic safety test: blocking a profile preemptively.
If you need to block someone on eHarmony, you can —but prepare to hunt for the menu, and don’t expect to block anyone until they’ve already messaged you. It works, but it works grudgingly.
Anyone who receives an unsolicited, creepy first message from a profile they never matched with. Anyone who wants to proactively curate their experience by blocking someone they saw in search results. Anyone expecting modern, intuitive UX.
If you are a cautious, patient user who only needs to block people after a few awkward messages, you’ll be fine. The system technically prevents further contact.
It’s time for an overhaul. Add a “Block” button directly on every profile. Create a visible block list in settings. Allow blocking without requiring a conversation. For a platform that markets itself on “safe, meaningful connections,” the current blocking system feels like an afterthought.
