The cover photo was a quote about grandchildren. The account had 234 friends. It posted every Tuesday and Friday: recipes, weather complaints, nostalgic photos of 1980s high schools.
Mara dug deeper. The "Marcus Webb" account had been used to infiltrate a contractor group. Through it, Elaine—or whoever she had become—had learned that a local roofer named "Sully" was running an unlicensed business scamming elderly homeowners. An anonymous tip had been sent to the county licensing board. Sully was now under investigation.
Mara scrolled through Jenny’s timeline. There, two weeks ago, was a photo of a high school reunion picnic. Her mother wasn’t in the photo, of course. But there was a comment from "Jenny" under the photo:
