The episode opens with Alison and Mike in a state of mild panic – they’re waiting for a call from the bank about a loan to fix Button House’s crumbling roof. The ghosts, however, are less concerned with finance and more with the fact that Pat has announced he’s going on “holiday” – a concept none of the other ghosts understand. Meanwhile, Alison intercepts a call – the bank has refused the loan. Desperate, she considers selling the house to a hotel developer who’s been circling. Mike tries to be optimistic and suggests a crowdfunding campaign, which the ghosts derail by “helpfully” suggesting ridiculous perks (the Captain: “A night in the haunted bunker – jolly good value”).

Pat reveals that every year at this exact date, his living relatives visit his memorial bench in the woods near the house. He claims this is his one chance to feel like he’s “with” them again. The other ghosts decide to join him for moral support, turning the trip into a chaotic ghostly procession through the grounds.
