A clean drain hose means drier dishes, a fresher kitchen, and a dishwasher that actually drains. Do this every 6–12 months . Have a stubborn clog that won't move? Call a plumber before the backup floods your floor.

If water alone doesn’t work, push a long, flexible bottle brush into the hose. Twist it to scrape the slime off the inner walls. Rinse and repeat until the brush comes out clean.
