The International Baccalaureate (IB), formerly known as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), is a nonprofit educational foundation headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1968, it was originally designed to create a common, rigorous university-entry curriculum for the children of diplomats and international businesspeople—students who moved frequently across borders. Today, the IB has grown into a globally respected framework offered in over 5,000 schools across more than 150 countries.
