To separate the "T" would be to erase the history of Stonewall, ignore the coalition needed to fight common enemies (conservative religious and political forces), and abandon a community that faces some of the highest rates of discrimination within the queer umbrella. Conversely, to ignore the specific needs of trans people would be to fail the most vulnerable members of that same community.
