“Okay,” Alex said.
Frustrated, he called his friend Jamie, a software developer.
“But when your guests arrive, there are no plates, forks, or knives. They can see the food, but they can’t eat it. Your game is the food. ”
Alex had just built a brand new gaming PC. It was powerful—RGB lights, a liquid cooler, the works. He downloaded his favorite game, double-clicked the icon, and waited for digital glory.
“Because that would be wasteful,” Jamie said. “If ten games each installed their own copy of the same fork, you’d have 10 identical forks on your PC, taking up space and potentially conflicting with each other. The Redistributable is the shared drawer of utensils that everyone agrees to use.”
“What is a VCRUNTIME?” Alex muttered. He clicked “OK,” and the game crashed.
If you ever see a missing , MSVCP , or CONCRT140 error, don’t panic. You don’t need to reinstall Windows or buy new hardware. You just need to set the table.
Then Alex launched the game. It worked perfectly.
