They colored in silence for three minutes. Leo drew a clumsy sun. CatBee drew a flower. It was the most peaceful three minutes of Leo’s life in this hell.

Its bee-striped torso was torn, stuffing leaking like cotton snow. One of its cat ears was gone, revealing a sparking servo. But its single, large, mismatched eye was focused intently on a piece of paper. It hummed its tuneless song as it dragged a crayon across the page.
