In K-12 educational settings, network administrators employ content filtering systems (e.g., Securly, GoGuardian, Lightspeed) to block access to entertainment platforms, including gaming sites. In response, a parallel digital ecosystem has emerged: “unblocked game websites.” These sites—often hosting simple, browser-based games (e.g., Run 3 , Happy Wheels , Shell Shockers )—are designed to evade standard filters through proxy routing, frequent domain changes, or minimalist coding. This paper examines the motivations behind students’ use of unblocked games, the risks they pose to school networks, and the pedagogical implications for educators.
