For a character whose entire emotional vocabulary was wrapped in church potlucks, Bible studies, and judgmental piety, this silence is louder than any explosion. Young Sheldon has always been smarter than its parent show about faith. The Big Bang Theory used religion mostly for jokes (Sheldon vs. Mary’s beliefs). But here, the show treats Mary’s crisis with genuine respect. Pastor Jeff isn’t a villain — he’s a tired man failing his flock. The church isn’t evil — it’s just insufficient.
